We are truly thrilled to announce our second year of participation in the #GivingTuesday campaign!! We cannot wait to see how many of you will participate. <3
From our inception, it has been our goal to bring skilled, relevant therapy to survivors of complex trauma; particularly to those who lack the affordability to do so on their own. We quickly learned that even if someone were to donate one million dollars to our charity, it may not make a difference for more than half the nation. Why? There simply aren't enough therapists trained in trauma and dissociation available to help. This is an extremely painful reality we come against daily. Imagine wanting therapy and being willing to do the work, but having no one within a two-hour drive of your home to help. Or having someone nearby, but no money or insurance approval to pay for their services.
We have found a way to help those in desperate need begin the process of healing. We call it a Therapy Box! With your help, we will create no less than FIFTY, hopefully many more. Each box will be unique and specifically tailored to its recipient, including: at least two therapeutic books, a journal, a host of grounding tools, comfort items and more. The books will be those used in the treatment models of top trauma hospital programs, and heavily focus on those that are more interactive; workbooks. While nothing can compare to face-to-face therapy, we know that recipients will absolutely treasure the life-changing information and self-care tools that we are sending!
There are two ways you can help:
One - You can donate one or more of the necessary items that will help us fill at least 50 Therapy Boxes. A list of the items we'll include can be found below.
Two - you can make a cash donation that will allow us to purchase the items necessary to fill the boxes, and to ship that nationally. Sometimes this is the easiest option!
No matter your budget, your intention, or your current ability to affect positive change for someone in need, you can help US make this happen!! We hope to see you leave a comment on our corresponding Facebook #GivingTuesday post, telling us what you, your place of business, your group of friends, or your family are sending. OR! Send us a private email to BeautyAfterBruises@gmail.com (should you choose to remain anonymous) stating what is arriving. We would LOVE to keep a tally of what has been donated and what we need, and to thank you personally. We’ll be posting throughout the campaign, updating which goals have been met and which are still needed.
You can follow our donation link for credit/debit card donations right here on our website. Please include within in the donation comments that your donation is to used for the Therapy Box Project. We want to be sure your donation is appropriately credited and utilized with your specific intention.
